Middlesex County, New Jersey

McLaughlin & Nardi’s experienced New Jersey attorneys represent people and businesses before Middlesex County’s courts, boards and authorities, and in transactions, bankruptcies, and tax matters throughout Middlesex County.

Middlesex County is the physical heart of New Jersey.  Geographically, it is the very center of New Jersey.  It is bisected by New Jersey’s major roads, including the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, Routes 1&9 and 18, and the Raritan River.  It is New Jersey’s second most populous county.  It was named after the English county of the same name.  Being the heart of New Jersey, Middlesex County’s seat, New Brunswick, was chosen as the site of New Jersey’s major educational institution, Rutgers University.  For the same reason the New Jersey State Bar Association chose New Brunswick as its headquarters.  When Seton Hall and Rutgers Law Schools formed the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Education, for training New Jersey’s lawyers, it chose New Brunswick to be at the heart of New Jersey law.

Middlesex County is also New Jersey’s center of higher education, with campuses of Rutgers University, the University of Medicine and Dentistry, Princeton University’s Forrestal Campus in Plainsboro, Middlesex County College and DeVry University.  Middlesex County has more than 1900 hospital beds in five major and well-respected hospitals: John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Raritan Bay Medical Center (Old Bridge), Raritan Bay Medical Center (Perth Amboy), and St. Peter's University Hospital.

Middlesex County is extremely diverse.  While much is suburban, such as Sayreville and Old Bridge, it also has the urban areas of New Brunswick and Perth Amboy, the industrial areas of Cateret and Iselin, and the large immigrant communities in Edison.  Middlesex County boasts many major employers, from Rutgers, to pharmaceutical companies, to large insurance companies, to hospitals, telecommunications companies, high tech manufacturers, and retailers.

The Superior Court of New Jersey, located in New Brunswick, hears civil, family, landlord-tenant, small claims and major criminal cases.  Minor criminal cases and violations of municipal ordinances are heard in the municipal courts of each town in Middlesex County.  Attorneys from our office regularly appear in all of these Middlesex County courts.  Likewise, each town in Middlesex County has various boards and commissions, such as the New Brunswick Housing Authority, the Piscataway Board of Education, the Old Bridge Planning Board, and the Perth Amboy Building Department.  Our experienced New Jersey attorneys regularly appear on behalf of people and businesses before the courts and boards of Middlesex County.
